OzTAM measures minute-by-minute census-level data, providing a highly detailed and granular view of how Australians are consuming BVOD.
The census level data is enhanced via demographic modelling to deliver person-based measurement of viewing, including co-viewing on connected TVs, to live and on-demand streaming broadcaster content.
OzTAM's model assigns a demographic profile to the audience viewing BVOD using a combination of inputs, including:
BVOD co-viewing is defined as up to three additional viewers simultaneously watching BVOD on a connected TV (CTV) alongside the primary viewer.
User data is fully anonymised, and OzTAM collects no information that could identify the person(s) that owns or uses individual devices.
Demographic and co-viewing BVOD estimates are an important component in Australia's new integrated Total TV database,
Virtual Australia (or, 'VOZ').
What is VOZ?
Virtual Australia, or ‘VOZ’, is the foundation of Australia’s ‘Total TV’ measurement standard. VOZ brings together broadcast viewing on TV sets and granular BVOD viewing on connected devices to provide truly national, de-duplicated, all-screen, cross platform planning, trading and reporting for Australia’s media industry.
The VOZ Total TV service delivers the primary trading currency from Sunday December 29, 2024 and is the source of BVOD viewing data.
From this date, the VOZ website reports are the public source of information on audiences consuming Free-to- Air (FTA) broadcaster content across both broadcast TV and BVOD.
