OzTAM’s foundational measurement assets

Services Other Measurement Assets

OzTAM’s VPM service measures free-to-air broadcasters’ BVOD content streamed live and on-demand across 16+ million connected devices each month. VPM uses SDK integrations within broadcaster players, combined with Streaming TV meters in the broadcast TV panel, to collect minute-by-minute census-level viewing data. This is enhanced through demographic modelling to deliver person-based insights, including co-viewing on connected TVs, using inputs such as panel-based measurement across programs, genres and devices over time, first-party registration data and VPM census-level device data.

VPM’s granular dataset is a key input into the VOZ Total TV currency, enabling a unified and accurate view of Total TV viewing across devices, audiences and platforms.

Conducted on behalf of OzTAM and Regional TAM, the Establishment Survey (ES) defines the population to be represented and its characteristics. The ES provides intelligence on households, people, and in-home technologies (including working TVs). Every private household across OzTAM, Regional TAM and Rest of Australia coverage areas has an equal chance of selection. Panel homes are recruited from respondents to ensure statistically robust representation across age, gender and occupation groups.

The VOZ synthetic population models the entire Australian population using anonymised Establishment Survey data, to which broadcast TV and BVOD viewing is attributed, forming the VOZ Total TV database.

OzTAM’s mission to deliver a world class all-screen measurement service is underpinned by it’s significant measurement assets.

Why is subscription TV no longer measured in OzTAM’s measurement services?

STV viewing ceased to be available in the VOZ Total TV currency dataset from reporting research day December 15, 2024.
